SS-31 Mitochondrial Protocol

Published August 27, 2026 1 min read 500 mcg Anti-Aging

Overview

SS-31 (Elamipretide / MTP-131) is a mitochondria-targeting tetrapeptide that selectively concentrates in the inner mitochondrial membrane where it binds cardiolipin u2014 a phospholipid essential for cristae structure and electron transport chain (ETC) efficiency. It reduces electron leak and ROS production while increasing ATP synthesis efficiency.

Dosing & Reconstitution Guide

Once daily u00b7 0.25 mg/kg SC u00b7 Half-life: ~1 hr

Reconstitution Table (1 mL mL BAC water u2192 500 mcg)

Weight Dose Draw (U-100)
70 kg 17.5 mg ~35 Units
80 kg 20 mg ~40 Units

Reconstitute 500 mcg with 1 mL saline u2192 500 mcg/mL. Most research dosing is weight-based. Inject SC.

SS-31 (Elamipretide) is in Phase II/III clinical trials for heart failure and Barth syndrome. Research use only outside approved trials.
