5-Amino-1MQ (5-amino-1-methylquinolinium) is a small molecule NNMT inhibitor. NNMT is overexpressed in obesity and consumes SAM (S-adenosyl methionine), diverting resources from NAD+ synthesis. Blocking NNMT increases intracellular NAD+ and SAM, activates SIRT1, reduces fat cell size, and inhibits adipogenesis. Significant fat mass reductions in animal models without caloric restriction.
