What is Reconstitution?
Lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides arrive as a dry powder. Before use, you dissolve that powder in a sterile liquid — almost always bacteriostatic water (BAC water) — to create an injectable solution.
What You Need
- Peptide vial (lyophilized powder)
- Bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol)
- U-100 insulin syringes
- Alcohol wipes
Step-by-Step Process
- Wipe the rubber stopper of both vials with an alcohol swab.
- Draw the desired volume of BAC water into the syringe (typically 1–2 mL).
- Insert the needle into the peptide vial and slowly inject the water down the glass wall — do not aim directly at the powder.
- Gently swirl (do not shake) until the powder is fully dissolved.
- Store reconstituted peptide at 2°C–8°C.
Storage
Reconstituted peptides stored with BAC water typically remain stable for about 28 days when refrigerated. Lyophilized powder can often be stored frozen for longer periods — always follow your product documentation.
